New analysis from PoliMonitor has revealed that Surrey Conservative MPs are amongst the most active new MPs in Parliament, with three Surrey Conservatives ranked in the national top 10 for spoken parliamentary contributions since the 2024 General Election.

The figures, which track spoken contributions by MPs elected in 2024 between July 2024 and May 2025, placed Gregory Stafford, Member of Parliament for Farnham and Bordon, first nationally with 430 spoken contributions. Rebecca Paul, Member of Parliament for Reigate, ranked fourth with 318 contributions, whilst Lincoln Jopp, Member of Parliament for Spelthorne, ranked seventh with 303 contributions.

The analysis means Surrey Conservative MPs account for three of the ten most active newly elected MPs in the House of Commons.

The figures are based on research by PoliMonitor, which monitors parliamentary activity recorded in Hansard, including speeches, questions, and interventions. The rankings measure how frequently MPs contribute in debates, ask questions and participate in parliamentary scrutiny across the Commons chamber, Westminster Hall, and committee proceedings. The wider report also notes that MPs contribute in different ways, with some focusing more heavily on written parliamentary questions while others are more active in spoken debate. Researchers say the analysis offers an independent snapshot of how newly elected MPs have engaged in Parliament during their first year.

Gregory Stafford MP said:

“I made a commitment to do my best to represent my constituents in Parliament when I was elected. So, I am delighted to be recognised as having spoken more than any other backbench MP last year, with hundreds of spoken contributions in Parliament.

“For me, this is not about statistics - it is about ensuring that the voices of people across Farnham and Bordon are heard clearly in Parliament. That is the core of the job: to be a persistent and effective advocate for my constituency.

“As an Opposition MP, speaking in debates, questions and statements is one of the ways I hold the Government to account. But more importantly, it is how I raise the issues that matter locally - and I will continue to do so with energy and focus.”

Rebecca Paul MP said:

“It is a real privilege to represent residents across Reigate, Redhill, Banstead, and our villages in Parliament, and I work hard every day to ensure local voices are heard clearly in Westminster.

“I believe residents expect an MP who is visible, engaged, and willing to speak up on the issues that matter to them.

“It is encouraging to see Surrey Conservative MPs recognised amongst the most active new MPs in Parliament as we continue standing up for our communities and holding the Government to account.”

Update on the Harlequin Theatre

The Harlequin Theatre is an important part of Redhill - a community hub bringing culture and the arts together.  This is why we are all so frustrated with how long it is taking to arrange the works and get it open again.
