Protect Our Young People from Unfair Student Loan Interest
Parents and grandparents across Reigate, Redhill, Banstead and our villages tell me the same thing: their children are working hard to build a future, yet their student loan balances often rise even while they are making repayments. With interest currently set at inflation plus 3 per cent, many ordinary earners can spend decades paying while their debt barely falls. That is not the fair deal families were promised, which is why I am calling for student loan interest to be capped at inflation. The Government should not profit from young people trying to better themselves.
